The rapid develpment of power electronics technology brings tremendous social and economic benefits to the national economy; at the same time it also brings a growing power system harmonics pollution. Because of the harmonics'severely demages, harmonic suppression and power quality enhancement become the major chanllenge of the designer of power system.In this design, the uncontrollable three-phase rectifier with resistance load is selected as the harmonic source and parallel APF (active power filter) is used to compensate the harmonics. Harmonic real-time detection method of the active power filter as one of the key technologies is the key point of this paper. Firstly three commonly used real-time detection method of harmonic is discussed in the article; by comparing with Matlab simulation, the adaptive detection method which is based on the principle of adaptive noise counteracting is selected, and has been improved by variable step-size algorithm. By software and hardware designings and experiments of the detection part of the active power filter, the feasibility and superiority of the adaptive detection method is verified in this paper. Lastly a harmonic detection platform is developed, providing an open platform for the harmonic detection, and forming a good foundation for other studies on harmonic detection methods.
