Harmonic has seriously affected the power supply, power quality. Harmonic governance has become one of the important researches in the current electrotechnical field. As an active-type harmonic compensation device, parallel active power filter(PAPF), with fast dynamic response and effective compensation , has been rapidly developed .The composition of the PAPF, working principle, as well as its core technology is presented in this thesis. Then the following work is carried out on harmonic detection and control about PAPF.Firstly, the harmonic detection technology is studied. Real-time and accurate harmonic detection is the key for current tracking control part of the PAPF. In view of two currently used harmonic detection methods, namely, source current detection method and the load current detection method, their static equivalence is pointed out, and their dynamic performances are compared through Matlab / Simulink simulation .Secondly, the harmonic control method of the capacitive load based on PAPF is researched. The PAPF is ease to install, convenient and flexible to switch, simple to protect, but its compensation of the capacitive load harmonic is poor. This dissertation analyzes the relevant physical concept, and has studied a variety of improved control methods based on PAPF and compared the performance of various methods through Matlab / Simulink simulation .Thirdly, a dual-DSP-based PAPF experimental platform, including the main circuit parameters, hardware and software of the control system, is analyzed and designed. Parts of the aforementioned research works are verified by experiment on this platform,and the validity of the studied works is proved.
