The extensive application of power electrical devices in metallurgy, steel, coal and transportation industry has affected the power quality of distributional power system. More and more concern is focused on compensation and management of power quality and APF (Active power filter) device research in science and industry areas.The real-time and accurate detection of harmonic current is vital for the performance of APF. This paper concluded several practical harmonic detection methods, and realized adaptive lattice predictor by liner neural network., bring up a new adaptive current detection method.Firstly, the paper introduced harmonic and reactive power compensation technology, analyzed temporary APF technology, concluded harmonic current detection methods and PWM control methods.Secondly, researched instantaneous reactive power theory and FBD method. Applied liner neural network to adaptive lattice filter, trained the network by LMS arithmetic, realized a new adaptive current detection method.Finally, developed a 60Kvar APF device, TI DSP TMS320VC33 and CPLD as core control unit. Applied DC capacitor voltage PID control to device start process and stabilized it when running. Launched the device into power system to compensate the vacuum jar load in a medical company got a ideal result.
