A new type of program--"tell it like it is" produced by CCTV news channel born inMarch of1996. From then on the TV talk shows began to enter into Chinese normal people'slife. Set one topic, the host and the interview guests talk and discuss with each other use theinterpersonal way, so as to realize the conversion from the interpersonal communication tomass communication through the mass media. TV talk show has gone through threedevelopment phases in China, First, public discourse space creation, then comes the periodthe public expression in the private area, and then comes to the period of mass expression bythe whole people."A Date with Lu yu" is the study object of this thesis. The TV talk show faces newchallenges as the media environment changes: the declination of the brand influence; the tenyears same Lu Yu's host style never change; constantly alter the program concept to adapt thebroadcasting platform and the fade away of the audience/host interaction. TV talk show haveto embrace those challenges one by one and then may have a chance to break through theembarrassing status: make brands bond to each other to realize brands' sustainabledevelopment; input the director's innovative minds to avoid homogenization; upgrade thehost's conversation mode to deepen the ideology of the topic; re-program the procedures toadapt to a wide range of network platforms; enrich the audience interaction to refresh theaudience feelings.TV talk show will change in the new media era, but the body of the talk show will remain.No matter how the time goes by, a television talk show which emphasizes deep thinking,humanistic connotation, and highly pursues the spiritual dimension, cultural taste, aestheticvalue will always be advocated.
