Along with social progress and digital information technology innovation, the growing demand for intelligent systems also boosted fast development of intelligent systems market. The traditional video monitoring system adapts video capture and video processing separation process, while the current intelligent high-definition (HD) video monitoring system is gradually replacing the traditional video surveillance system by combining video capture and processing in one set, which saves both the traditional monitoring system set up space and human cost. Moreover, it also avoids human error and miscalculation by its real-time feature with high accuracy. Intelligent HD video monitoring system is the objective of the video monitoring industry, with great potential and economic benefits.Integration, digital, network is the developing direction of intelligent video monitoring system. Among the intelligent video monitoring systems, the one based on Web server video is most promising.. This design uses a 500 million pixel CMOS image sensor and the embedded CPU based on the DaVinci technology developed by TI companies as a hardware platform. This design is used for the vehicle detection and license plate recognition. CMOS image sensor has the advantages of high integration, low power consumption, high data reading rate and short development cycle. The system uses a 500-megapixel OV5642 image sensor has these advantages and can provide 1080P high-definition video. TI's DaVinci technology products DM6446 integrated ARM926EJ-S embedded processor core, C64X + DSP core and integrates a video co-processor. This processor, by changing the mode that separate processors in the system, improved the system integration and efficiency, thus reduced the cost of the system board.This paper introduces the detailed hardware design of intelligent video monitoring system. Firstly, introduced the structure of DM6446 processor and all parts of the system, mainly involving the ATMEGA64L micro controller circuit and the software designing, power circuit design, DDR2 dynamic memory design, Flash memory interface design, an Ethernet interface. Then, introduced the video co-processor VPFE/VPBE of DM6446 and the CMOS image sensor works and the configuration parameters described in detail.The hardware platform has been built completely. U-boot and the Linux operating system migration has been completed, the relevant subsidiary functions and interface driver is in designing.
