In recent years, with the application of nonlinear load,especially the large number of power electronic devices were used in factories, mines, transportation, communications and home appliances, convenience was brought to the exchange and application of energy. However, they also cause a serious pollution such as harmonics, reactive power and voltage fluctuation. Because of the higher requirements of reliability of the power supply, passive filters can not meet the users'requirements any more, active filters whose performance is more excellent are coming into our sight.This article describes the working principle and classification of active power filters, analyses several commonly detection method of harmonic current and control strategy of compensation current, and makes simulation with the MATLAB/ SIMULINK software. Ultimately the ip-iq method based on instantaneous reactive power theory to detect harmonic current and triangular wave comparison method to control the production of compensation current were chosen. In this paper, a research on the completed set of active power filter system of 30kVA that the control core is TMS320F2812 was studied. The sampling circuit was re-designed, the protection circuit of EXB841 driver and the control circuit of the voltage on the DC link were improved. Corresponding to the control strategy that we choose, the software was also programmed. Besides, a new set of active power filter system of 100kVA was made successfully. This device is tested, and the data that obtained were analyzed.
