Electromagnetically induced acoustic emission (EMAE) uses electro-magnetic stimulationto produce acoustic emission (AE) signals which is used to the nondestructive test. It is a newtype of nondestructive test. It allows a structure to be loaded locally by applying anelectromagnetic stimulation in order to produce an acoustic emission response. It can locatesmall flaws or cracks in thin-walled structures nondestructively to allow inspection of specificareas without loading the whole structure. Therefore, it can prevent additional damage for thestructure under test.In this project the definite feature of power that used for electromagnetic acoustic emissionis researched and designs a variable voltage variable frequency (VVVF) power supply. Thepower which is used for eddy-current load acoustic emission experiments is asked for wideoutput voltage and frequency range. The power source system consists of main circuit,power-factor correction(PFC)circuit and protection circuit. The core of power source system isthe control circuit which is based on 32-bit digital signal processor (DSP) chip TMS320F2812,Trigger pulse can be regulated through the variation of the program parameters so theperformance of trigger pulse is flexible. The strategy for impedance match adopts seriesresonant circuit. The results of the experiments show that this power source is stable andreliable enough and can meet the electromagnetic acoustic emission experimental requirements.
