| During the course of Radio and Television companies'computer business systems development, most operators established many separate management systems to support different business. This kind of the business system has poor scalability and poor flexibility and is difficult to coordinate. They cannot meet the rapid evolution of business or respond quickly to market changes. Therefore, in recent years, by unified shareable customer view of full service and flexible collaborative workflow technology, some Radio and Television operators build a comprehensive business operation support system‐BOSS system to link each discrete system of Radio and Television information system organically and support varied business operations and service process runs a complex network in order to meet customer rapid development and evolution of the business.Workflow management system has become an indispensable part of the application systems for modern enterprises such as telecommunications services, production management systems and office automation systems. Radio and television companies are large regional enterprises to provide video images and information services for the thousands of families through HFC network. As Radio and Television operator is a new video network operator of city area, the BOSS system of radio and television is a market‐ and customer‐ oriented integrated business management system, which involves customer orders, work orders, service request tracking and customer relationship management which closely relates to workflow. Therefore, the use of workflow management system as a system‐level support for enterprise application platform for building information systems, radio and television companies will greatly enhance the level of information application.From the start point of the workflow technology, this article describes relevant technologies and the applications and development of BOSS system and illustrates the key technologies and R&D approach of radio and television BOSS through radio and television infrastructure in the BOSS system platform‐ the workflow management system‐related technology research. And then it studies on a design example of radio and TV BOSS system‐ BOSS Operations Support System of Guangzhou Pearl River Digital Group Co., Ltd. and analyses one of the typical application of workflow technology‐ operation and maintenance management subsystem in detail. This system applies browser/server structure of the three‐tier architecture, uses ORACLE 9I RAC of ORACLE Corporation as the database server and is developed with JSP as a front developing language.The BOSS system and its operation and maintenance management subsystem in this article is an in‐depth application of workflow technology in radio and television field. This system has been successfully applied in the digital services of Guangzhou Pearl River Group Co., Ltd. with more than thirty operation stations and over five hundred terminals spreading over the city. Since a good application effect is achieved and the production efficiency is greatly improved, this system has a broad prospect of business application. |
