With the rapid development of mobile industry and the fast worldwide expansion of the wireless network, the society has entered the information age, and people's lives is getting more and more digital. At present, pervasive computing has become a major study hotspot of the international community, how to make the information industry to better serve people has become a common subject of the society. Location-based service is a pivotal part in the study of pervasive computing. Due to the advancement outdoor positioning technology, it has been integrated into the outdoor location aware system, and it has brought people great convenience. Because of the complexity of the indoor environment and the imperfection of the indoor positioning technique, the indoor positioning technique doesn't work well yet. So to achieve new breakthroughs in indoor positioning technique and to launch outstanding indoor positioning system become the top priority.Compared to the other positioning technology, the Wi-Fi positioning technique has the superiority as following, the wide network cover range, the fast information transmission speed and the low cost of the network construction. The RSSI desired in the RSSI localization method of Wi-Fi positioning can be easily collected by the user's mobile device, so the RSSI localization method fits the indoor positioning system very well.This paper designs an indoor LBS system based on the Android mobile phone platform, the system uses RSSI localization method in the WLAN technology for positioning. The purpose of the system is to make the users in the indoor shopping environment also can enjoy the convenience brought by pervasive computing technology and get better shopping experience. As in bookstores, supermarkets, art galleries and other places, the system will boost business services to users regionally based on their location. At the same time, users can see the comments of other local users or express their views through the evaluation system, or publish their intention to micro-blog through the micro-blogging features and get suggestion from their relatives and friends or more people through the network, so that they can choose their favorite items better.First, the paper describes in detail the choices of the methods in positioning system and designs of positioning module. Then the overall process and system design are described, and various parts of the system design are described in detail. In addition, some core modules of the system are packaged, including scanning module of the WLAN signal strength values, information-packer, information-unpacker, and transmission module etc. If the other developers want to continue develop new system based on our LBS system, they can instantiate classes and corresponding class method to achieve the function. Finally, a book recommendation system simulated in the bookstore environment was implemented to better display the function of the system, and further validates the feasibility and practicality of this system.
