Along with the development of laser technology, semiconductor laser are used in communications, medical, aerospace, defense and other fields because of its small size, high efficiency, light weight, ease of integration, etc. Stability and reliability of semiconductor lasers has great impact on the entire system, but the semiconductor laser output power and wavelength are extremely vulnerable to supply current and operating temperature. Therefore design a stable and reliable semiconductor lasers drive has important practical significance and broad application prospect.In this paper, based on pulse width modulation (PWM) and proportional-integral-derivative algorithm (PID), we design one kind of driver using ATmega88 as the master control chip to provide the constant temperature and the constant current for the semiconductor laser. It can stabilize the semiconductor operating temperature of laser in a set temperature accurately, and provide a constant current for semiconductor lasers.This paper has done the following work in detail:①The whole system is divided into two parts:Control module and display module. The control module takes ATmega88 as the center processor. The display module takes STC12C5A60S2 as the center processor. This paper introduces design concepts and circuit design of two parts in detail, and gives circuit diagrams.②Software aspect:This paper introduces the basic ideas of designing overall system software. Draw the control module and display module software flow chart.③Control aspect:This paper uses the classics the PID algorithm, and makes a further improvement in control precision of system.In order to confirm the feasibility of the driver, after the system design is completed, driver test is done. Experiment confirms that the driver provides good working conditions for the semiconductor laser. This system is economical and practical; it supplies a kind of good solution for constant temperature, constant current control in the low power semiconductor laser.
