Although short-range wireless communications technology in national and international testing has made many achievements in domestic meter based on intelligence, the wireless communications technology short test is weak and still at an elementary stage. The program of the short-range wireless communications system based on smart meter run successfully, during the automatic test of the technical research in the power system will fill a void, to be reliable and stability in power users to use electric information and develop strong network to provide effective protection for smart grid.Study on the issue of smart meter short-range wireless communications technology, combing with the actual fact of intelligence tests on wireless communications of smart meter, choosing a method suitable for short-range wireless communications bed on smart meter, a virtual method of detecting instruments to finish the test of short-range wireless communications is feasible. This paper studies short-range wireless communications automatic test technology on the basis of actual situation from the following aspects: Firstly,the analysis of the basic concepts based on smart meter short-range wireless communications, depending on the domestic and international relevant standards and norms, and its testing purpose of domestic smart meter short-range wireless communication is indicated. Secondly, building an examination platform is specialized for short-range wireless communications. Detection methods applicable to the short-range wireless communications for smart meter are researched and selected. Thirdly, EVM for vector range of error model and the receiver sensitivity model based on wireless communications are set up, providing EVM for vector range of error model and the receiver sensitivity of the equation of the reasoning, the mathematics is verified by specific number of examples, various factors influence on EVM were simulated, it pointed out that the relationship of the field intensity, the input and the sensitivity is closely connected, the substance of the performance of short-range wireless communications is deeply into the analysis. Finally, with virtual instrument technology and special equipment bus technology, the testing system makes the automatic testing true through the smart meters by developing the command set of SCPI and library functions of VISA on VC6.0 software platform.
