Research On The Key Technologies Of Location Management In Heterogeneous Wireless Networks

Recently, mobile communication systerms are developing rapidly. With the booming of many wireless access technologies, just one single technique can not meet the request of future mobile communications; muti-technology must be involved to supply diverse access services. Therefore, the integration of heterogeneous networks is the inevitable trends of the evolution of future mobile communication systerms.The integration of heterogeneous networks faces many challeges, location management is one of them. Considering that the location management technologies based on IP network layer still have some deficiencies, this dissertation proposes a hierarchical and distributed mobility management model for hetergenous networks. In this model, the concept of Anchor Domain is introduced and the network is divided into three levels for location management respectively.In addition, the mobile node has to choose the Mobility Anchor Point (MAP) as its registered MAP. The current MAP selection algorithms are mostly centralized. So there is the possibility of communication interruption because of the failure of fixed MAP. Therefore, this dissertation proposes a novel MAP selection algorithm. It shows that this scheme achieves good effect in overhead manangement and load sharing.
