Comparative Study On The Total Abstracts Of Siku Quanshu And The Abstracts Based Attached To Books Compiled In Siku Quanshu

This study uses the comparative study method in Archive Materials Studies to compare the Total Abstracts of Siku Quanshu and the abstract ahead attached to every book compiled in Yi Classics Part of Siku Quanshu, counts and analyzes the degree and forms of differences between the two types of abstracts and gives some conclusions, then uses the materials in The Archives of Compiling Siku Quanshu, with some clues got from the comparative study, to study the causes of the differences which created in the writing process of the abstracts of Siku Quanshu. I hope this study can give some help to deepen the studies of the abstracts of Siku Quanshu.Based on some related studies that some scholars had done, the main innovative parts of this paper are three. First, use Archiving studies methods to do this study. Secondly, do complete comparative study of the two two types of abstracts. Thirdly, gives more detailed reasons about the differences with tracing the writing process of the abstracts of Siku Quansh.Besides the Introduction, there are three Chapters in this paper.Chapterâ… , based on the Total Abstracts of Siku Quanshu, uses the abstract ahead attached to every book compiled in Yi Classics Part of Siku Quanshu as the reference to do complete comparative study. Then according the titles order in the Total Abstracts of Siku Quanshu lists all the different records one by one book, and also lists the book title though there is no difference in its abstracts. At the same time, gives some comments on some differences.Chapterâ…¡takes the content of chapterâ… as the basis, using four standards, 'exactly the same','slight difference','heavy difference' and 'complete difference', to count and express the degree of differences between the two types of abstracts. From the aspects of'differences of characters or words','differences resulted from inserting or changing a sentence','differences resulted from inserting or changing a paragraph' and 'differences resulted from changed the abstracts completely', analyze the main forms of the differences. Presents a idea that some points or parts in the abstract ahead attached to every book compiled in Siku Quanshu are better than the same correspond points or parts in.Chapter III, with the full use of The Archives of Compiling Siku Quanshu, traces the writing process of the abstracts of Siku Quansh.Gives the reasons why there are so many differences between the two types of abstracts. Such as copy writing mistakes, the Total Abstracts of Siku Quanshu had been revised many times before it was printed, some books were extracted from the tentative Siku Quanshu by Bans, The writers used different versions of the same book, and so on.In conclusion, there are many differences between the two types of abstracts. Overall, the Total Abstracts of Siku Quanshu has more nice writings and consistent views, though the abstracts ahead attached to the books compiled in Siku Quanshu have their own special virtues. The causes of the differences related to the writing process of the abstracts of Siku Quanshu. And some materials in The Archives of Compiling Siku Quanshu can give us some answers. This study therefore proves that archive materials and methods can play important roles in history studies.
