In accordance with the practical requirements in Virtual Conceptual Design of Hydraulic Support,the Section Recognition of Hydraulic Support's key parts is mainly researched in this paper and a new Section Recognition method is proposed as well,which is formed based on the basic principles of Feature Recognition and Computer Graphics.By making use of the proposed method, the Sectional Views of Hydraulic Support's key parts are recognized effectively.At the same time,a Section Design System,based on basic principles of Virtual Conceptual Design and the recognition result of Section Recognition mentioned before, is designed and implemented and two basic functions are provided by this system,which refer to the stress analysis based on traditional mechanics of materials and three-dimensional Virtual simulation of Hydraulic Support's key parts here.By this system,many practical problems in Virtual Conceptual Design of Hydraulic Support,such as the stress analysis and three-dimensional Virtual simulation of Hydraulic Support's key parts,are availably solved and the effeciencies of Conceptual Design of Hydraulic Support are improved.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)This paper gives some research on the basic features of Conceptual Design and Virtual Conceptual Design, and then the basic theories and method on realization of Virtual Conceptual Design System are especially researched.(2)A new method,which is about the section recognition of hydraulic support's key part,is researched and implemented.Based on the vectored sectional view (that is vector graphics),the basic features of graphics primitive in those sectional views are analyzed and a new concept—Border-line is proposed.At the same time a method for the researching those Border-lines is given as well.Recognition from those Border-line,the basic principles of feature recognition and Graham scan are fully made use of,and the mentioned section recognition method is implemented finally.(3)A Section Design System of Hydraulic Support,based on the Section Recognition result mentined above,is designed and implemented.During the actual realization process of this design system, many practical problems,such as the section recognition and three-dimensional virtual simulation of Hydraulic Support's key parts,are maily researched。By making use of the modeling theories of Graphics based virtual modeling and the OpenGL, which is one of most powerful three-dimensional Graphics development tools, the described section design system is realized finally.
