With the development and involvement of communication network, converging is evitable, especially the convergence of fixed and mobile network, which is a problem urgently needed to be solved. It further promotes the spirit of soft switching that the services and controls should be separated, as well controls and bearings. At the same time, it depolymerizes the network more deeply, and the network structure is more clear and reasonable than soft switching. To depolymerize the network enables the vertical services mode being broken, which is beneficial to develop services. What's more, the depolymerizations of different kinds of network create conditions for the networks to redepolymerize different layers. The re-depolymerization is the process to merge, which using IMS to realize the unified control of fixed access and the mobile access.This paper firstly introduces the IMS network's concepts, architectures, characteristics, and the significant of its development. Furthermore, some locally projects focused on IMS network carried out by some operators and their operational characteristics are both analyzed. The operator's sub company in A province has faced increasingly market competition, so that they speeded up the convergence and set up the experimental network in 2008. With deeply analyzing this network's architectures and bearing capabilities, and combining with the service requirements, some network problems are founded, such as it's unable to communicate between IMS provincial areas, SBC is incapable of locally communicating of IP network, as well the communication between IMS areas and CS areas has security hazard.This article focuses on the problems in the experimental network, taking in to account the real condition of the existing network, finally puts forward the modification methods in core network and bearing network by comparing various schemes. Those problems are solved by adjusting the network architecture, adding network components as well adjusting the signaling or traffic routing pattern. As for the trade off between services requirements and network capability, my paper sufficiently analyzes the service prospect and keeps up to the involvement principals of network development. As for the enterprise accesses, the propositioned device are no longer considered, instead IMS directly manages enterprises, so that enterprise customers can enjoy IMS services while the operator can reduce their investment simultaneously. As for network safety, the safety back up facility is added to network components in IMS network; in addition, safety isolation between IMS network and CMNET network is reinforced.In the end of this paper, the principles of code assignment are proposed as well some advices about charging and network management, to optimize this project so that lay foundations for transiting smoothly from experimental network to commercial network.
