People get information through text, image, audio, video, etc. The fasci-nating development in science and technology during the past decade has madeimage information easily transmitted over the internet and wireless networks. Itis a new challenge to improve the security of digital images. The security of dig-ital images includes con?dentiality, integrity, authenticity and non-repudiation.The traditional image encryption schemes, such as DES, AES, RSA, becomeweak when attacked by brute-force and statistical analysis. The image encryp-tion schemes based on chaos show superior performance. The main contributions of the thesis are:(1) In Chapter 4, we utilize the sensitivity, pseudo-randomness and ergodic-ity of the 2D tent maps to design an image shu?ing scheme, then apply the CMLmap to perform the di?usion of the pixel grey values. We use the 256×256 Lenaimage as the plain-image to do tests. The tests show that the proposed schemepossesses high sensitivity and is robust against JPEG compression, noising andcropping attacks.(2) In chapter 5, we de?ne the generalized tent maps including 1D, 2D,3D cases. Then we design an image encryption scheme based on the 3D tentmaps. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme is secure and robust, moreover, it possesses good statistical properties like satisfactory performance atcorrelation, NPCR and UACI. An image fusion scheme based on the encryptionscheme and wavelet transform is proposed as well. The experimental resultsshow that the proposed scheme is robust against JPEG compression, noisingand cropping attacks. Finally, an image encryption scheme based on the 1Dgeneralized tent maps is proposed. The key space of the 1D generalized tentmaps is 10110.
