In order to protect valuable data from undesirable readers, many encryption techniques for image or speech data have been proposed. However, thinking little of the characteristics of the multimedia data stream, some of these techniques only treat them as ordinary data stream, and therefore are limited. In this paper, based on a binary sequence generated from a chaotic system, image pixels are rearranged according to the defined swapping operations.Since the chaotic sequences have good properties such as ease of generation, sensitive dependence on their initial condition and noise like statistic characteristics, a new chaotic image encryption scheme belonging to the category of position permutation algorithms is proposed in this paper.Based on an address index table generated by the encryption scheme, image pixels are divided into sub blocks and rearranged according to the defined swapping operations with a parameter controlled by the binary sequence generated from a chaotic system.The architectures integrating the encryption algorithm with vedio are proposed, which solves the dilemma between data compression and encryption.It possesses the features of low computational complexity, high security, and no distortion. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, software simulation results will be given in the last section.
