Different from traditional Paper and Pencil Test (PPT) and Computer Adaptive Test (CAT), Cognitive Diagnostic Test (CDT) is the new generation of tests. The main characteristic of CDT is that its result includes two aspects:one is the reporting of test score, which is the same as PPT and CAT, the other is the reporting of the detailed perspective of the tested knowledge in a fine granularity style. The usage of the detailed perspective of the tested knowledge in a fine granularity is self-evident. From the view of examinees, they could know about their benefits and limitations; from the view of teachers teaching, they could know about the key emphasis in future work, and this will realize teach each student according to his merits; from the view of functional departments, they could get reference information about policy making and educational resource allocation such as book selection, syllabus setting.China is a large country in testing. At present, PPT is the principal form of testing, and CAT is the supplement in some special field such as preinduction psychological test, HSK for international student, administrative capacity test for cadre. With the development of society, because of birth defect in its rationale, PPT already more and more ability not equal to its ambition. Under this circumstance, CAT emerges as the times require. CAT develops very quickly due to its advanced theory foundation and speediness, efficient. Especially in foreign country, CAT was adopted in lots of large scale examination. CDT is a new kind of test style which was given a close attention in recent years. CD-CAT is a research hot spot which is CD joining in CAT.In this context, application research in CDT is the main aim in this paper. An empirical research was done to diagnosis the different carrying notation and the inter-conversion skill situation to the freshmen. Compared with PPT and CAT, the result shows that we could get more useful information from CDT through mining in examinees'response data. With the development of computer technology and assessment theory, CDT is the development direction of test, and CDT will make great progress in China in the future.
