Research On Optical Fiber Filters

Optical fiber filter is not only widely used in optical communication field (such as for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) system, multi-wavelength fiber lasers and time-division multiplexing (OTDM) of the ultra-fast mode-locked pulse fiber laser), but also have broad and important applications in ultrafast optics, optical fiber transmission sense, industrial processing, optical information processing, full color display, laser-guided, laser printing, medical and other fields. Because it has the characteristics of wavelength tunable, low insertion loss, and easy to be integrated into the optical communications system, the optical fiber filter has been widely investigated by many research workers. Also it is one of the important research content in fiber optical field.In this paper, we have simply made classification of optical fiber filters, and have briefly introduced the principle and structure of some typical kinds of fiber optical filters. On reviewing the research and the development of the fiber optical filters, we propose a new method of designing efficient fiber filter, and systematically discuss the working characteristics of this model. This article mainly including three aspects:1. To introduce classification of fiber optical filters on different standard, and analyse the working principle of the fiber filters.2.
