Femtocell is an ultra-small mobile station that is newly brought forward based on the development of 3G and trend of mobile broadband. It works in licensed spectrum to connect standard mobile devices to a mobile operator's network using residential DSL, cable or fiber broadband connections. The main task of Femtocell is to provide better signal coverage and QoS (Quality of Service) for family rooms and small business organizations. In a two-tier cellular network comprised of a central Macrocell underlaid with Femtocell access devices, the interference between layers limits the capacity of the network. In this paper, the author analyzes the scenarios of interference between Femtocell users and Macrocell user during uplink and proposes a distributed power control method for Femtocell based on game theory. This method protects the SINR (signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio) of user in Macrocell with low complexity by limiting the maximum transmit power of Femtocell users. More over, Based on this method, the author proposes a link protection method to improve the performance of the network, which means much more Femtocell user can achieve their own SINR target. In this paper, MATLAB simulations are adopted to analyze the relationship between interference and transmit power. Also these simulations are used to verify the performances of the proposed transmit power control method and the link protection method.
