The application of spectrum measurement for material composition and ingredient detection is one of the key usages of the modern spectroanalysis technique. Linear array CCD be constructed in spectral instrument is the key feature of the modern measurement devices. This paper gives the detail description of the hardware of the mineral stones detecting system qualitatively include the plane diffraction grating, used as spectral components in light path,and the linear CCD with 2048 pixel,used as photoelectric transfer device. It also gives many application of the modern digital signal processing method in filtering and analysis. And the more analysis method is gaven for different mineral stones feature distigush.The working principle of the Y shape fiber beam and the plane diffraction grating, and necessary optical auxiliary components and the linear CCD for the spectral measurement system are gaven in this paper. The reason and method of using tengsten lamp as radiation lamp-house in spectrometer system is analyzed. It also discussed the effect of spectral instrument adjusting on the spetrum data.The software design of the realize method is presented in the second part of this paper. The computer code of spectral date capture and the modern digital signal processing technology on the spectral data are made on the platform of Visual C++. The Median filter, Haar transformation, Hanning function, Hamming, Chebyshev and wavelet method for spetral data processing are used. The rexperimental results of different filters with different methods were compared and analyzed.Finally, the CCD spectrometer system designed by author is applied on several mineral and the results are comparaedive experiments were done. The experiment results show that the method given here is reasonable and the data is reliable. This spectrometer can be used to distinct the different kinds of gemstone material purpose. This measuring system has the advantage of reliable, easy to carry and, low cost to produce. It can be used as the professional measurement instrument to judge the gemstone quickly and it has the prospect of widely usage.
