Rule-based Engine Technology Rfid Data Stream Integration Middleware

RFID middleware plays an important role in intergration between RFID and enterprise infornation systems. With RFID middleware, enterprise information systems can manipulate RFID device, collect and filter RFID data in a managed way. However, it needs considerable refactoring for those systems to process RFID data in a bussness context, and it could lead those systems to be tightly-coupled. The tightly-coupled systems may not be able to serve company business optimization purposes, escpecially for companies with rapidly changeable bussness demands.Our research focused on how to solve the intergration issues between RFID and enterprise information systems. Topics such as how to use data stream technolgy in RFID data filtering, business senario expresssion by RFID event pattern, RFID event pattern recognition using rule inference engine, algebraic expressions and automation of business processes, were discussed in details.The RFID integration middleware for enterprise information systems was proposed on the premise of abundant research on rule engine and data stream technologies. It contains core modules like documents server, data processing engine and business process control engine. Design concerns of those modules were discussed. To promise deployment flexibility, a distributed interactive communication mechanism among modules was introduced. The component strategy based on Spring.NET was used to enable the middleware configurable.In this paper, implementation of core modules such as data processing engine, business process control engine was described. Two examples were demonstrated respectively, to verify efficient performance of RFID event pattern recognition and flexibility of business process control.
