With the continuous development of China's highway, road maintenance work has become more and more important.Rut detection is an important part of road maintenance.The traditional manual detection was not suited to modern road development, the automation, high-precision testing equipments are required to research and design for fast, accurate detection and evaluation.The multi-collimated laser rut detection technique is given in the paper to meet the requirements for the pavement testing. The multi-collimated laser detection technique has non-contact and high precision traits, and the equipment has long service life. During the detection, because of vehicle bumps or uneven and longitudinal road surface causes the angle of laser beam and the surface change, this will affect the results and the accuracy of rut. For this reason, the symmetrical multi-collimated laser rut detection technique is proposed by the paper to meet precision requirements. The paper mainly includes the following aspects:(1) Based on the principle of laser triangulation,the multi-collimated laser rut detection technique is in-depth studied, analysis the relationship between the number of laser points and detection accuracy. On this basis, the paper proposed the symmetrical multi-collimated laser rut detection technique. The method can effectively reduce the error which caused by vehicle bumps and uneven pavement.(2) The symmetrical multi-collimated laser rut detection technique of some key technologies is studied. The technologies include system calibration technology, rut image processing technology and calibration image corner detection technology. System calibration using least square method resolve overdetermined equation to acquire object plane and image plane coordinate relations. Image processing technology use the ruts image preprocessing to get the spot center of the image plane coordinates. Harris corner detection method used to extract the control points of the corner coordinates.(3) The symmetrical multi-collimated laser rut detection system general design is studied.(4) Through the experiment, verify the symmetrical multi-collimated laser rut detection method which proposed by the paper.The above studies proved that using symmetrical multi-collimated laser rut detection can make the ruts on highway acquire rapid, accurate detection.
