Our Library Readers Privacy Protection

With the development of Public Culture Utilities, how to protect the privacy of readers is another challenge faced in our library constructions. The rapid development of network technology makes the risks of privacy invasion more obvious and the protection of readers'privacy becomes more difficult. Firstly, the paper gives a brief introduction about the concept of privacy and privacy of library readers. Furthermore, it discusses the concepts, characteristics, scopes of privacy and gives examples of privacy invasion. Secondly, the article gives a further explanation on readers'privacy, including the scope that is the readers'privacy of information, activities and personal space. It emphasizes the importance and urgency on the development of library in the future. Thirdly, it points out the specificity of openness, sharing and ordering of readers, summarizes the methods of various possible ways for readers'privacy invasion in libraries at stage. Fourthly, according to the development of our library and general privacy protection regulations, it in-depth studies the problems of readers'privacy protection, summarizes the problems and omissions in legislations, self-disciplines, self-protection educations and the usage of technologies and facilities. Lastly, after referring to the advanced practices of privacy protections in foreign countries, the passage proposes relevant measures to solve the problems. The measures include: expedites the process of legislations in privacy protection, strengthens the studies of privacy theory and education to the readers, enhances the self-protection awareness and increases the investment on research and infrastructure, etc. Through the study, this thesis could do some efforts to improve the practice of readers'privacy protection.
