The rapid development of Internet has changed people's way of lives, and the emergence of it also changed the operating mode of different industries. In the meanwhile, radiated television will develop from single traditional media to market-oriented, diversified and intelligent media.At present, our Broadband Radio Access Network technology mainly adopts Cable Modem (coaxial cable modem) network program, whose backbone network adopts optical fiber while distributive network as well as primary route mainly adopts the coaxial-cable. The quality of the network is poor, unidirectional transmission, carrying a single analog broadcast television service. Bilateral network is very fewer and it is unable to carry out large-scale bilateral data transmission as well as digital TV services, thus constraining the development of radio and television networks. Therefore research, discuss and find a new technical support has aroused extensive attention.Recently, Epon (passive optical network) has become a hot topic of the industrial community and academic circles. It is a single fiber, using bilateral multipoint access network structure whose advantages and features have great appeal to broadcast television network. First of all, this article designs a test experiment, making a special analysis of its bandwidth in broadcast television network. Through the comparative analysis of Epon and the original cable technology, the result shows that the use of Epon technology is feasible. In the meanwhile, the experimental data proves that Epon has advantages in the bandwidth and provides a strong basis for the practical use and following development of broadcast television network.In addition, with the result of the experiment, and through the selection of the network planning, topology design and implementation of the old residential quarters and the new residential district, it can make full use of existing network resources without changing the cable TV star-style topology network. It selects and uses a variety of different ways of network construction program to construct cable TV network systems which based on Ethernet passive optical network. It shows that compared with original HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) network, the use of Epon technology is more optimized in network qualities and performances, and it is also more convenient, economical and practical in the construction and maintenance.Finally, through the application example of Epon in the network streaming media, it shows that Epon technology can b ring a wider range of prospects and great economic benefits to broadcast television network.
