As a consumer laptop computer has become increasingly popular. The development of notebook computers is based on the rate of annual generation forward. The laws of the industry R & D one generation, public one generation, pre-research the next generation. A new generation of notebook computers always set save more energy, be more efficient; be much thinner and lighter, have more features as the goal.This paper describes hardware design of a platform that Intel Company will release in early 2011, the latest PCH architecture codenamed Huron River which is composed of Sandy Bridge processor and Cougar Point chipsets. It features the latest dual-chip design, a complete interface functions, excellent energy saving effect.First several modules are introduced in accordance with the latest notebook motherboard universal design architecture:the processor module, chipset module, embedded module. Mainly we analyzed the detailed specifications of these modules and the design point. Then described in detail in the universal design features other than some of the differences with the design:the use of dumb battery, timing of self-control, SO state device power-off function. The design has played a power saving, cost-saving effect, make the products more competitive. Second, makes a detailed analysis in notebook motherboard for high-speed signal of the signal integrity and electromagnetic compatibility issues. Then describes how to implement the circuit PCB design, the actual layout in some of the rules and precautions, and the design of some of the problems encountered and how to solve these problems, making the system work better in use, more reliable. Finally, the finished design of some important signals were tested and listed on the effect of different design conducted a comprehensive test, the result is quite satisfactory. Papers presented in accordance with design, the board has been produced and debugged pass successfully, and completed all the functional tests and electromagnetic compatibility tests, developing next-generation notebook computer with a universal significance. Finally, the paper made a summary and analysis on the status of the notebook industry at home and abroad based on the design for this motherboard.
