| This paper probes into the differences of self concept, age characteristics, gender of4-6years old preschool children and the relationship between children's self concept and mothers'external evaluation of children's self concept. This study adopts testees from3public kindergartens in three different districts in Xi'an.1054-6years old children are randomly chosen as research objects. In the meantime, mothers of these chosen children are also research objects. This study makes use of self concept questionnaire (Revised by Zhu Jiaxiong etc,1989) which is made by combining Hater's "Chart for children's ability and social acceptance awareness"(PSPCSA) and the children status in China. Self concept investigation includes four different perspectives: cognitive ability, peer acceptance, physical ability and mother acceptance.Using single test method, this study investigates self concept of4-6years old children, collects data of external evaluation of mothers to children by questionnaires, and further discusses the relationship between children's self concept and mothers' external evaluation of children. Data analysis exposes the gender and age difference of children's self concept by descriptive and single sample. The cross influence of age and gender on children's self concept has also been analyzed by multi-element variance method. The relationship between children's self concept and external evaluation of mothers to children has been analyzed by independence T check analysis and relative methods. Some theoretical guidance is provided to help children form positive self concept and promote harmonious mother-child relationship. This study comes into the following conclusions:1)4-6years old children have high sense of self concept.2) As children grow up, they show differences in self concept in different perspectives. Age and children's self concept are in prominent positive correlation. However, gender difference of children's self concept is not obvious.3) Age and gender cross-influence the peer relationship of children's self concept and mother acceptance.4) Children's self concept and mothers'external evaluation differ greatly in the perspective of cognitive ability, physical ability and mother acceptance. 5) Mothers'external evaluation of children's self concept does not increase with the growing of children.6) Mothers'external evaluation of children's self concept is obviously related to children's self concept. |
