With the continuous development of information technology and the rapid popularization of internet, network has already entered people's daily life. As the rapid development of information technology accelerating the speed of the knowledge updating, learning is no longer once for all and the concept of learning is changing. As a free and flexible approach to learning, e-learning has been used to meet the requirement of more and more learners with its openness and abundant resources. As a personalized curriculum, independent curriculum is a curriculum for self-initiate, self-choice, self-learning and self-development. In the trend of e-learning, the new learning concept of e-learning of independent curriculum emerged to meet the requirement of learners' independent learning and lifelong learning. Based on the basic viewpoints and principles of e-learning and independent curriculum, e-learning of independent curriculum refers to the activities that using the rich cyber source and platform to improve learning efficiency and achieve learning goal during learning process.In the first part of this paper, we defined and distinguished the core concepts. The second part mainly discussed the basic theory of e-learning of independent curriculum, which including characteristics, principles, learning objectives, content and learning method, from the aspects of theoretical. In the third part, we discussed the preparation of learners in detail based on the basic theoretical generalization and the basic network operation skills the learners should have for e-learning of independent curriculum, summarized the operation procedure of e-learning of independent curriculum, and then analyzed the learning strategy of e-learning of independent curriculum based on the research findings of Mackeachie learning strategy. In the final part, we studied the practice of e-learning of independent curriculum by questionnaire survey and interview. Based on the survey data of hundreds of high school students and interview results of six students, we found the conclusions. Firstly, to some extent, the efficient learners are studied according to the operating procedure of e-learning of independent curriculum. Secondly, the efficient learners use a variety of learning strategies during the learning procedure. This result verified the effectiveness of the operating procedure of e-learning of independent curriculum, and the necessity of using the corresponding learning strategy. We hope that the result of this study may provide references to learners of e-learning of independent curriculum and promote the learning efficiency.
