The dissertation attempts to deal with two issues. Firstly, how can Chinese government intervene in the Construction of University Discipline, and what is the effectiveness and negative impact of the intervention mode. Secondly, how to construct the assistant mechanism of Chinese government ,which could avoid negative impact of the intervention.The dissertation is composed of five chapters. The first chapter, the introductory part, elaborates on the major concepts and the significance of this topic, and put forward the theoretical basis of this study and presents the research frame. In chapter two, the historical evolution of the construction of university discipline,which is intervened by the Chinese government, is reviewed. The forces resulted in the transition of the intervention mode, which are hidden in the transition are explored. In third chapter, starting with system analysis framework of university discipline construction, the author conducts a more in-depth and systematic research on the entrance, process and export for the construction of university discipline , and analyzes the effectiveness and negative effects on the development of university discipline brought by the mode of government intervention in discipline construction. The fourth chapter, on the perspective of comparative study, analyaes the patterns of other governments intervention in subject construction. Based on the above study ,the fifth chapter puts forward the premise of our governmental aid mechanism and some beneficial suggestions about the reasonable construction of aid mechanism.The chief points of the dissertation are as follows. (1) There is a direct relevance between the pattern evolution of Chinese government intervention in university discipline construction and the changes of government administration mode. So effective intervention in discipline construction is dependent on the improvement of government administrative capability. (2) The facts prove that it is necessary for government to intervene in discipline construction. However, the clerical and unbalanced government intervention and intervention of fragmentation of subject construction have brought negative influences on the construction of university discipline.(3) To overcome these negative influences, government should limitedly involved in the construction of university discipline, perfect the legislation system, establish effective macro-control mechanism and properly introduce in the social mechanism, so as to put up an assistant mechanism helpful to the development of university discipline.
