A Study On The Applications Of Reading Strategies In A New Type In Jiangsu NMET

Reading is one of the most important skills in EFL learning, especially in dealing with the College Entrance Examination papers, and the improvement of students'reading ability is always one of the main purposes and goals of the English teaching and learning in High Schools. According to the Illustration of College Entrance Examination of Jiangsu Province of 2011, a new type of reading, task-based reading is added to the College Entrance Examination Papers of Jiangsu Province. It is a kind of type that is based on Curriculum Standard, and is designed on the basis of Task-Based Teaching Approach. It can not only test students'ability of reading comprehension, gaining and integrating information, but also examine their inference and writing ability. It is a new challenge both for teachers and students. Hence, teachers should train their students to use different reading strategies in reading, especially in task-based reading, to improve the grades on this special type.Under the background of new curriculum reform, on the basis of the theories of reading strategy, this paper proves into the possibility of how to bring reading strategies into task-based reading, for the purpose of improving students'reading ability as well as improving their grades. Under the premise of large amounts of information from books and with the reference to a large number of task-based teaching materials, the author tries to train students to apply different reading strategies to task-based reading. In order to prove the effectiveness of the application of reading strategies to Task-Based Reading, the author conducts her experiment for a semester, and analyzes the experimental results in the paper. The author draws the conclusion that the application of reading strategies to task-based reading can enhance students'grades of Task- Based Reading.
