A Study On Boom Index Of College Students' Employment In Zhejiang Province

At present, it is the truth that the college students' employment is a difficulty. On one hand, China has just achieved the goal of higher education massification. It is far behind the developed countries. College students are still the high-level human resources in China. On the other hand, there is the difficulty of college students' employment. How to explain this phenomenon? Can we change the only method--"rate of employment" to evaluate college students'employment? Based on such thinking, using elastic theory in economics, index theory and booming theory, this thesis tries to construct the index system that can reflect the relationship between college students' employment and the market. It is called boom index of college students'employment. By using the boom index of college students' employment, we can analyze the situation of college student's employment in Zhejiang province.The first part analyzes the necessity and feasibility of the boom index of college students' employment, and defines its connotation. The external economic environment can affect college students' employment through employment absorb. From the perspective of employment absorb, economic growth not only restricts the quantity, but also influences the structure of college students'employment. The boom index of college students'employment is mainly reflected the restriction and influence on the quantity and structure of college students'employment by economic growth, and reported by quantitative and intuitive date. College students' employment elasticity and employment effects compose the system of boom index of college students'employment together in this thesis.The second part analyzes the college students'employment elasticity in Zhejiang province. Using statistic date, we can calculate and analyze the normal employment elasticity and the college students'employment elasticity in branch lines of business. Taking the college students'employment elasticity and the number of graduates from relevant majors to do correlation analysis, it finds there are weak correlations between the college students'employment elasticity and the number of graduates from relevant majors.The third part analyzes the college students'employment effects in Zhejiang province. Using statistic date, we can calculate and analyze the normal employment effects and the college students'employment effects in branch lines of business. Taking the college students'employment effects and the number of graduates from relevant majors to do correlation analysis, it finds there are weak correlations between the college students'employment effects and the number of graduates from relevant majors. And taking the college students'employment effects and the number of graduates from relevant majors to do fitting analysis, it finds that college students'supply is short of demand in 11 branch lines of business, and college students'supply exceeds demand in 6 branch lines of business.The last part summarizes that the boom index of college students'employment has two functions. One is evaluating the external economic environment of college students. The other is warning the major setting and the quantity of enrollment. The thesis also puts forward three policy recommendations. They are advancing reform of higher education to face market, enhancing the government's ability of regulation and providing scientific and effective employment service to college students.
