The literacy ability is not only the fundamental teaching in the elementary education stage, but also the foundation of the student's learning, of reading and writing and the premise of all the Chinese learning. The abstract characters are so difficult to the primary school students, which depress their interests in learning. In order to increase the literacy efficiency, we must fund the principle of teaching and rule of pupils'cognition.In this paper, the origins of Chinese characters are based on "the six categories of Chinese characters" in ancient days. At present, Chinese characters are still rich in origins, which makes it possible seek their formations and origins. The literacy method based on the origins of Chinese characters can help students master the original meaning and extended meaning of the words. Moreover, this methods help to master characters of interchangeability in classical Chinese writings. Through showing pupils the connection of pronounce, shape, and meaning of the Chinese characters, the pupils can learn Chinese characters by themselves. Therefore, pupils can know about the order of Chinese characters, which will stimulate their study interest. On the other hand, pupils can appreciate cultural essences from Chinese characters and spontaneously accept the education of traditional virtues.Firstly, this paper introduces the background and actuality of the origins of Chinese characters, and analyzes the potential applications of the methods on the low-grade pupils. Secondly, this paper shows the foundation and advantages of the methods. Thirdly, this paper gives the writer's exploration in practice and the suggestions on the literacy teaching methods.
