How to efficiently learn geography is an important education problem that junior secondary school geography teachers face. Efficient study enables students to accomplish more learning tasks in a relatively short period and have more time to attend other activities which is good for student's physical and mental health and intelligent development, such as astronomical observation, field survey, etc.It is the meaning of the research on efficient study in geography. Meanwhile, the study on the approaches of efficient study is very important to foster outstanding citizens full of knowledge. Then how to do the research on the efficient teaching? In order to solve this question, teachers must be aided with the achievements of psychological theory researches. From the perspective of educational psychology, this essay researches on some important teaching and learning methods, aiming at prove the important role that education psychology theory plays in efficient teaching and learning study. The reason why teachers lay emphasis on the importance of educational psychology in the field of effective study are just as follows (1) the principle of educational psychology can be regarded as the theoretical basis of the research in teaching and learning;(2)the principle of educational psychology provides framework for the study of specific geographic knowledge;(3)by revealing the rule of geography teaching and learning, the principle of educational psychology provides some teaching methods for teachers and study methods for students;(4)educational psychology research is beneficial to find a communication bridge between IQ and EQ, in order to fully dig out students' intellectual talent.Education learning theory can reveal the psychological processes or mechanism of geography learning. Geographic teaching and learning involves a variety of complex psychological processes, including the impact and interaction between educational factors (curriculum standards, books, teachers, students, practice field, community culture, ethnic culture, social economic and political environment, school traditions and management, etc.). No single principle of education learning is sufficient to explain all the teaching and learning activities. Therefore, every theory can only describe the key features in a certain aspect of efficient learning and guide high efficient study by taking various factors into account. This essay involves some educational psychology theory, such as, representation theory, memory theory, cognitive style theory, migration theory, motivation theory, ect. The most important feature of high efficient teaching is the coexistence of different education learning theory. In this essay, each theory not only involves some valuable viewpoints but also has its advantages and limitations in interpretation and application. At the same time, each theory must be considered to adapt to specific teaching situations. Therefore, a multi-angle and comprehensive research is necessary in the study of the application of psychological theories in efficient teaching geography, which can prevent the geography teaching stereotype and one-sidedness, enhance the flexibility of geography education, overcome one single learning theory's defects, and reduce mistakes in teaching.To study the high efficient learning of junior high school students, teachers should know more about junior high school students and other things as follows. Firstly, the junior high school students′cognitive characteristics and learning style should be known in order to take proper strategies to improve learning efficiency. Secondly, teachers ought to know about students′learning motivation and interest, for motivation has been proved important to high efficiency learning. Thirdly, transfer study should be paid attention to, for positive transfer is an important learning capacity and determines the learning process and effect. Thus, in order to ensure the efficiency of learning geography, it is necessary to actively promote positive transfer to prevent the occurrence of negative transfer. Fourthly, teachers should study the proper use and selection of memory strategies. The characteristics of the subject of geography determine that memory strategies occupy a pivotal position in remembering the geographical concepts, principles and geography graphics. Fifthly, as for the geographical features that there are lots of geography images and charts and some students can not personally perceive, it is necessary to construct the geographical representation to promote the geographical learning efficiency. Besides, efficient learning embodies in the preview, class, review, practice and examination. It requires the teachers to use the principles of educational psychology and treat the five aspects seriously. At the same time, teachers are required to pay attention to the psychological characteristics of middle school students and guide them to learn, which will create the conditions for efficient learning.This essay has accumulated some thoughts of geography over my many years'teaching. From my perspective, it may play a certain ascending role in high efficient study for geography and the other subjects. If my viewpoints can play a promoting role for the junior middle students who are in an important stage of life, I will feel very gratified. In view of the time constraints, a lot of factors influencing on students'learning efficiency, such as students' interests, will, and family environment, are not considered. Some other learning theories and strategies, such as meta-cognitive theory and advance organizers'theory are not studied. At last, I truly hope my colleagues with the same interest would join in the project.
