Career-Considered Practical Physical Course Design For Navigational Students In Maritime Colleges

It is a high competitive world, so is the navigational market, with the shift of navigational professionals to the east and China's entrance to the WTO, opportunities and challenges come hand in hand. As a special group, the navigational professionals are required to have strong physical and psychological status to adapt to the harsh nature environment and living conditions as well as the coordinated professional knowledge. Thus makes the college physical education a significant one as the last stage before students entering the job market. In this paper, we try to improve students'physical and psychology quality by developing practical physical courses for maritime college students, to prepare students for practical needs, shorten the shift time from graduation to work, and reduce the risk of future career development in a certain aspect. Also, we intend to help students to develop a good exercise habits and carry on the spirit of"life-long physical exercise", to improve competitiveness in the job market and lay foundations for future career development. The analysis of present conditions of physical education is based on paper reading, questionnaires and interviews etc.; Then a practical physical education course design is proposed and compared with traditional physical education; we then study carefully of the feasibility of this proposal; Finally, we described the details of the procedures of practical physical course design for maritime college students including course aims and contents etc.In summary, the conclusion of this paper is that:1, According to an investigation, most maritime college students are dissatisfied with the current situations of physical courses, and a majority of students and faculty think the current physical education has a space to be improved.2, It is both important and necessary to develop practical physical courses for maritime students. The theory foundation of this course design is project courses and adjusted courses; the advantages lie in the benefits for the development of students, faculty, colleges, companies and the society; Compared with traditional physical courses, it is both different and related.3, The feasibility of the practical physical course design is considered in aspects of material resources, emotional intentions and college atmosphere, however, the lack of proper policies, the low awareness of students and teachers, and the inadequate ability for course development are the disadvantages.4, The procedure of the practical physical course design includes: the consensus of the education philosophy, establishment of organizations, analysis of environment, aims for the courses, contents of the classes, and related evaluations .5, To select the practical physical courses properly for career development, the courses are divided into following aspects: courses related to physical body conditions (professional physical requirements), courses related to career adaption in the society, courses related to career safety and health consideration, courses related to life-long exercises, courses related to exercises on shipping, courses related to physical education theories and others. These courses will be distributed as compulsory courses, limited compulsory courses, and free electives.
