Career maturity refers to the degree of suitability and practicality of one's preparation for searching for a job,It is an index for measuring how one gets along with his job. This theory has been improving, from the perspective of career choice attitude and career choice knowledge, Researchers investigate individual's career development level, provide the basis for the training.Based on the Previous research of home and abroad as well as the results of the open questionnaire survey,the career maturity model was developed firstly. Through exploratory factor analysis, the structure of the Career Maturity Inventory was constructed and the formal inventory was developed. After the examination of reliability and validity of the inventory, it was used as a measure to explore the characteristics of career maturity in a sample of 320 civil service candidates. The results are follows:(1)The factor analysis results indicate that the career maturity of civil service candidates can be divided into eight dimension, they are decisiveness, flexibility, activeness,the knowledge of jobs,knowledge of the strategy on human relation, consciousness of public service, career planning, public service consciousness. The questionnaire has proved its reliability and effectiveness, It can be used to assess career maturity of civil service candidates.(2) The survey indicates that the civil service candidates have strong flexibility, When they are preparing for the civil service examination, they are looking for other interested information. There is significant difference between genders on the values about the entrance examination for government employee,the male put more emphasis on social status, the female put more emphasis on work pressure and the stability of the work.(3)The higher the expectations of result of the examination of officeholder, the more we know about the information about the level of wage and career prospects, the more we consider development planning and development goals, but there is no significant relationship between the expectations and the level of effort.
