With the information age coming, communication between countries is frequency increasingly. Education innovation is performing in the worldwide. In the 21st Century, music education is penetrated, borrowed and influenced each other in various countries all over the world, and then the trend of Internationalization is more clear. But there are characteristics of regime, history and music in different countries. So there are considerable differences on music development of education. The aim of this study is mainly to absorb and use experiences and lessons from America music, to better understand universal rule of music education in our country, to promote the music education reform, and help rapid and healthy development of our middle school music education by comparing and discussing the similarities and differences of middle school music education between China and American in some aspects, such as education system, education thought, education goals, music teaching material, teaching contents and teaching methods.Main research ways adopted in this paper are the following as:literature law for collecting relative works, reference and magazine in order to achieve important material; comparative law for comparing every aspects of middle school music education in different periods and current condition vertically and horizontally with that in China and America; Analysis for analyzing the reasons why common features and general characteristics exist in middle school music education between the two countries.This paper consists of three parts, including introduction, main body and conclusion. Chapters and contents are arranged as below:In the introductory, it illustrates in the following aspects:objective and significance of study, a thorough view of research status, research ideas and research methods at both home and abroad. The main body is divided into three sections: Chapter one is on summarization of middle school music education in the China and America, focuses on the developing history of middle school music education between China and America, and then claries the comparative background. Chapter two is on comparison of middle school music education between China and America in the 21st century, which is divided into six sections, has systematically compared on management system, educational thought, education purpose, music teaching materials, teaching contents, teaching methods for middle school music education between China and America and then found their similarities and differences. Chapter three is on thinking and suggestion of middle school music education between China and America in the 21st century. And based on Chapter two, this Chapter analyses the cause of existing similarities and differences by thinking of characteristics from Chinese and American middle school music education. And then some reasonable suggestions are given for our music education development in the future. In the conclusion, it mainly summed up the contents of the whole paper, and a brief explanation is given for subsequent research of this subject.
