| Western Mandarin or the Spoken language of Western China which records the Chengdu dialect of the late nineteenth century, published by the American presbyterian Mission Press in Shanghai in the year of 1900, Was written by a British missionary of China inland mission called Adam Grainger.this book was used as a textbook of Chengdu dialect to help missionaries spreading the Christianity.At present,it has important reference value in studying Chengdu dialect and the social culture of the late nineteenth century.Related methods of Chinese Dialectology and Historical Comparative Linguitics were used in this thesis to analyze and research the voice system and the lexical system of Western Mandarin.This thesis consists of five parts,the first part introduces the research status and the content of this thesis,the second part compares the voice system of Western Mandarin and Guangyun to summarize the features and evolution laws of the voice system of Western Mandarin,the third part compares the voice system of Western Mandarin with both present Chengdu voice system and Putonghua voice system,the fifth part is the conclusion and references. |
