In the context of cultural globalization, the cross-cultural communication of filmbecomes an inevitable trend. The animated movies which showed a strong attractionand a great influence are gaining more and more audiences. But the domestic market isnow filled with animated movies from USA, Japan and Europe, domestic animation hasfallen into a continuous downturn.American animated movies are very popular all over the world, creators use thethemes that across ethnic and national boundaries to win the recognition of the world.They absorb the essence of national culture, and then decorate it with American valuesand cultural symbols that they are familiar with. We can get some revelation for thedevelopment of Chinese animated movies by studying the intercultural communicationphenomenon of American animated movies in China.In order to have the rapid rise, Chinese animated movies needs to learn thestrengths of American animation, learn from their success stories, absorb the essence ofother cultures, integrate the advanced achievements of different cultures into China'straditional culture, and get involved in the process of intercultural communication.The intercultural communication of American animated movies studied in thispaper is not stay on the aesthetic enjoyment of the senses and the economic and socialinfluence, but to analyze the text features of American animation from the view ofcultural study without discussing the Hollywood filmmakers system and commercialmarketing programs. This paper is directed by the cross-cultural communicationtheories, use the theories of semiotics, cultural study, and communication, analyze thetexts from the view of the encoder/decoder, cultural transformation and integration, usethe questionnaire survey to analyze the acceptance of domestic audiences, and analyzethe intercultural communication of American animated movies in China through theanalysis of specific works. I hope we can get some revelation on interculturalcommunication of Chinese animated movies, explore the methods for the creation ofChinese animation movies, and accelerate the intercultural communication of Chineseanimated movies through this study.
