With the rapid development of digital information technology and the birth of internet, new technology not only transformed social production structure but also the way people live. In the realm of art, some progressive artist who attempt to combine technology with artistic creation experimentally is consistently discovering new possibilities. Throughout the human history, art evolved along with social development always, so does the service object of art. Public turn into main service object of art instead of ruler,this change bring about corresponding change in aspect of subject and content, interactive installation art which create by new media is typical from that perspective.New media is interactive,technical,artistic and integrative,it connect audience to creation as a bridge and constitute creation as a framework,it is so important just as paper or canvas means to traditional painting. The introduction of technology make new media diversified. Author summarized four new media forms that artist commonly used when they creating interactive installation,which include image,voice,lighting and network. Science and technology provide new media greater development space, yet the changes of psychology demand and aesthetic got higher requirement to new media, the efficient application of new media in interactive installation art creation can bring the audience feast for the senses and illumination of mind.This thesis start from four commonly used new media form in interactive installation art,base on the analysis to the specific case,describe and study new media in many ways. First of all,by means of contrastive analysis between interactive installation art and installation art,as well as new media and traditional media, arrive at basic features of new media;By means of describing the concept,classification,development status and creating tools of four new media,analyze new media preliminarily;Start out to artistic expression,by means of researching five kind of sensory elements and psychological experience,describing necessary consideration when new media is applied to creation,integrating the research of artistic expression,sensory elements and psychological experience,obtaining methods and principles when new media is applied to interactive installation creation. Base on the previous knowledge and experience,introducing the superiority and limitation of new media in interactive installation,in order to inspire artist to maximize favourable factors and minimize unfavourable ones when new media is applied. At last thesis presenting the inevitability and possibilities of new media development in the future.This thesis dedicates to apply new media in interactive installation art creation systematic as a theoretical guide. Since application of new media is different from traditional media whether in rules or the aesthetic way, in the process of creating and showing the interrelation between audience and creation,as well as the interrelation between audience and artist have to be highly valued. Concept which artist express through creations sympathize with thought of audience,in consequence creation is created for the sensory demand and psychology demand of audience. Author quest the development trend of new media in the end of thesis and structure a new blueprint of new media and interactive installation in the future. Another meaning of this thesis is making audience understand how new media apply to interactive installation to some extent,in order to make audience actively participate in and realize the concept and significance of artworks,in that case,the audience even could develop their own ability and artistic talent on the stage that artist created.
