Since ancient times, Aesthetics has been in close relation with Chinese translation theory and has been of great significance to it. Throughout the history, translators of generations have made great efforts in the development of Chinese translation theory to promote the integration of Aesthetics and translation. Professor Liu Miqing has made great effort to develop China's own modern aesthetic translation theory, in which he applies the traditional Chinese aesthetic theory in guidance of translation. According to Liu Miqing, literary translation is to use the target language to reproduce the aesthetic constitutes of the original works, thus it has the process of aesthetic experience and aesthetic representation. Representation performs as the core of aesthetic judgment, which is to transform source text mainly in the aspects of literary beauty and artistic style.Teahouse, written by Lao She, whose English version translated by Ying Ruocheng, has been held great esteem ever since it was first published. Though decades went by, his translation has been believed to be in full flush of youth. Many people wrote articles to comment on it. However, most of those discussions focused on the translation techniques, or make an analysis on the lexical level. Its aesthetic value is seldom touched upon.Ying's version of Teahouse not only presents us with a perfect example of aesthetic representation of literary translation, but also shows his greatest accomplishment in translation. A great number of examples in the translation are worthy of exploring and studying. By the guidance of Professor Liu Miqing's theory, the author collects the data and uses the qualitative method to explain how the translation achieves the aesthetic representation in the language and style.
