A Cognitive Study Of "Left" And "Right" In Chinese

Two thousand years ago, metaphor, regarded as a kind of rhetoric, was always paid attention by linguists from Aristotle. However, in recent decades, people began to re-examine the cognitive function of metaphor. It quickly into sight and open a linguistics research boom, and sociology, anthropology, philosophy, psychology, pedagogy multitudinous discipline are involved. In cognitive scholars'view, metaphor is not only a kind of rhetoric, but also a thinking mode. It is an effective cognitive tool for people to cognitive abstract things by specific things. Metaphor space cognitive non-spatial concepts by spatial relations. The inportant position of the concept of space in human life makes spatial metaphor produce important influence in cognitive mataphor history.This thesis aims to organize information on "zuo" and "you", and research ontology and metaphor comprehensively and systematically. It is based on corpus, mainly adopted introspection method, to enrich Chinese language theory of ontology, to promote the comparative study of language, the first language teaching and the second language teaching. At the same time, it can provide some help for scholars'future researches.The thesis has six parts.The first part introduces the main centent,the aim,the value of theory,and the significance.It also explains the source and classes of linguistic data.The second part introduces current research situation in China, abstructs the research in linguistic by several papers.At last, list the questions ,as lacking of papers on"left"and"right"independent.The third part introduces the meanings of"zuo"and"you", with"dong, xi, nan, bei, zuo, you, shang, xia, qian, hou, wai, li, nei, zhong, jian, pang"which divided to three parts of direct system, Shape system and Position system in details.The forth part introduces the fuctions of"zuo","you"and the words composed by them in Chinese.The fifth part explains the metaphor basis of"zuo"and"you", the different target domains of metaphor and the phenomenon of symmetry and unsymmetry by the theory of spatial metaphor.The last part summarizes this thesis, at the same time, puts forward the trend of development in future and some questions in it,...
