Research On Relationship Between The State And Folk Society On The Protection Of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Protection of intangible cultural heritage has gained more attention in recent years. Soochow, famous for its culture around the world, owns a cluster of national level or world-class heritages, among which Kunqu Opera is the first recognized world-class intangible heritage in China. Kunqu opera is selected as the main subject for research, guided by the qualitative research and field research, in which how Kunqu has become a world-class intangible heritage and why it get lost was analyzed. Meanwhile, experience of the protection Kunqu in Soochow in the first ten years of 21st century is presented in the article and the relationship between State and folk society in rebuilding the Kunqu broadcasting center, the designation of Kunqu heritor, the performance plays in Kunqu art festival are also discussed here. Based on research of relationship between the state and folk society, suggesting worth attention of relative scholars and researchers for intangible heritage study is brought up.
