After the Opium War, Catholicism and Protestantism encountered in fuzhou. As both of them belong to Christianity, we call them brothers in this paper. To investigate their distinction and relationship, the thesis studies their spreading elements in the view of transmission, such as disseminator, audience, content, means, effect and so on. Due to the base of spreading history and other backgrounds, Catholicism spread successfully in the beginning of modern and recruited lots of believers. However, Protestantism could hardly spread in the early of modern. Protestantism adjusted the strategy of transmission to social and culture means in time, established lots of schools, hospitals, and pressed many publications, which extended its social influence largely. Also, Protestantism had many missionary organizations, huge number of missionaries and churches. Besides, its simple doctrine and convenient ritual helped a lot. Protestantism paid more attention to training lots of Chinese priests as well. All of thess above, made Protestantism cacth up with Catholicism on the spreading effects, and even better later.
