| This research takes 664 middle school students as objects by Mobile Phone Dependency Questionnaire to study the situation of middle school students'mobile phone dependency, in order to enrich the theory of mobile phone dependence and its measurement. Meanwhile, this paper investigates the relationship among mobile phone dependency, social support and social adaptation for middle school students, to provide a new way to prevent and improve the status of mobile phone dependency of middle school students.The results of this study show that:(1) There are three dimensions of the mobile phone dependency scale of middle school students, including:withdrawal, salience and loss of control. The scale is provided with definite reliability and validity. The scale could be used to measure the situation of middle school students'mobile phone dependency as a reliable tool.(2) In this study, there are 102 middle school students tend to depend on mobile phones, accounting for 15.36% of all respondents, indicating that most of the students use the phone correctly, a small number of students tend to rely on mobile phones. Students, who rely on mobile phones, perform excessive behaviours, such as use or check of mobile phone.(3) There is no significant difference of middle school students'mobile phone dependency on gender and child status. But the situation of middle school students'MPD is significantly different on some other demographic variables, such as grade, the time of mobile phone use and parenting style. High-grade students'MPD is more severe than low-grade students. The longer use mobile phones, the more serious of mobile phone dependency. Given to parenting style, spoil and laisserfaire type of middle school students' MPD are significantly higher than students of democracy and authoritarian type. There is significant difference in dimensions of MPD among middle school students on grade and time of mobile phone use, the situation of each dimension various from different grade and time use.(4) Middle school students'MPD is significantly negatively correlated with social support and social adaptation. And the correlation coefficient of social support is higher than that of social adaptation. It shows that middle school students with higher social support and social adaptation may have less reliance on mobile phones. Each dimension of both social support and social adaptation is significantly negatively correlated with middle school students'MPD. Especially, mental resilience dimension of social adaptation is a significantly negative predictors on MPD.(5) The result of path analysis shows that social support can predict the status of mobile phone dependence through social adaptation. |
