| This thesis has the definition and the classification of Chinese and English attitudinal words on the base of collecting a lot of language materials. We try the best to find out the differences and the similarities by contrasting the derogatory words of the two languages in semantic types and pragmatic expression to analyze why such differences have come into being. We believe that in Chinese and English frequently used derogatory words, some of them have correspondence relationship and the derogative tinctures of the words are determined by the context. In different contexts, the derogative tincture would be transferred or strengthened. In different speech acts, we find that Chinese tends to use appreciative words and derogatory words, while English tends to use neutral words. According to contrastive analysis of Chinese and English derogatory words, we aim at making properly use and understanding of derogatory words to help to strengthen the expression and influence of the language and to improve pragmatic effect and provide references for second language teaching. |
