The World War I was an unprecedented catastrophe in the human history .After several heavy battles,engage both parties was not only suffered serious property damage but also paid a heavy price of casualties. During the war, the International Red Cross played an important role in humanitarian relief activities. Meanwhile, the American Red Cross moved into the European theater after making full preparation for the relief activities with the support of the U.S. government. In the east and west positions of the Allies ,American Red Cross carried out all kinds of relief activities, offered help in medical treatment, supplies, education, training, etc, for local troops and civilians. Relying on the experience of previous domestic relief activities, the American Red Cross grew into a major relief force in the European theater rapidly. During the campaign, relying on the domestic capital strength, the American Red Cross did not only offer all kinds of assistance to the war-torn European countries in the war-flame, but did also show a increasingly active international image of the U.S.A. to the world.
