The Research Of "Modernity" In Late Rossetti's Paintings

This paper mainly describes a great modern art exploration, which is made by the main pre-raphaelite leader:Dante Gabriel Rossetti's painting in 1855～1864. Although Rossetti is not in modern art center, but he did the same job on "modernity" exploration at the end of the century in England. He was following the pre-raphaelite principle in the early times, then alone on the "ontological" groundbreaking path of art. He used the high purity color, and the complanation form, abandon all the narrative elements and symbolic elements in the picture, step by step. In all works of this period, I chose four most representative pictures to analysis. And combination with the works before and after, make sure the article have a very clear clue to the whole Rossetti's painting life. The same as opposed to tradition, Rossetti's status have huge difference with French modernist, such as cubism, fauvism, impression, etc. Therefore, the paper deeply analyzes the concept of "modernity", "ontological", also the Rossetti's ontology studying and ongoing exploration of modern consciousness has been discussed in general.
