| Vocabulary teaching is an important part of Teaching Chinese as second Language (TCSL) .But for a long time, to a certain extent the importance of vocabulary teaching was neglected in the TCSL, which makes the vocabulary teaching become the weak links during the whole teaching process. Over the past, vocabulary teaching was mainly based on words and grammar teaching became the centre of it, which regard words as a fundamental teaching unit. This teaching method achieved some good results in the TCSL in the past few decades, but its limitation has exposed regularly. Naturally exploring a new teaching method based on the words teaching has become a hotspot.There exists a large number of compound words made of morphemes in Chinese, as a result, many scholars naturally pay their attention to the morphemes in exploring the methods of vocabulary teaching. They emphasize the importance of morpheme teaching and put forward the Method of Morpheme Teaching .They emphasize the effect of teaching the meaning of morpheme and word formation in the Chinese learning for foreign students. To help foreign students understand the meaning of words and how to use them correctly, they propose to compose and decompose the morphemes of the compound words and they hope to expand the vocabulary of students rapidly like this.Firstly this thesis discuss the development of the Method of Morpheme Teaching comprehensively , then study the basis of morpheme teaching and the function of morpheme teaching in the vocabulary teaching with the theory of linguistics, psychology and some others. Next chapters will discuss the strategies of morpheme teaching and how to promote the effect of vocabulary teaching as well as achieve the purpose of expand their vocabularies with the Method of Morpheme Teaching.But the Method of Morpheme Teaching is not everything, which has its own limitations. So that it can not take place of the traditional Method of Word Teaching but can be a supplementary means. Certainly the Method of Morpheme Teaching is an important try in the present vocabulary teaching of TCSL and it will take an active part in changing the weak status of vocabulary teaching of TCSL. |
