With the rapid development of science and global economyand friendly trade cooperative relations strengthenedcontinuously between countries, the role of language is moreand more important. The research of language has being anurgent and important task for the world scholars. Under thisbackground, China has strengthen the research of language,Teaching Chinese as a foreign language becomes a priority forall. Vocabulary teaching is an important part of teachingChinese as a foreign language. So we should attach greatimportance to the vocabulary teaching, make the secondlanguage learners study the Chinese better.For a long time, China’ external Chinese educationconstantly explores the vocabulary teaching, hopes to find anefficient way of learning Chinese words. At present, we mainlydiscuss the Whole-word method、Zi-centred method and Morpheme Pedagogy. In this article, firstly we will research the threeteaching methods, then make Chinese character as a symbol ofthe unit based on this research. Adopt the“morpheme-word-phrase-sentence” hierarchy and make themorpheme as the basic unit of teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage. According to the characteristics of morpheme and thedifference of word meaning transparency, we can combine theMorpheme Pedagogy with the Whole-word method and apply it tothe vocabulary teaching.A correct learning method can make you get twice the result.The purpose of this paper is to find a good method forforeigners’ Chinese learning from the point of teachingChinese as a foreign language. So that learners can easilyremember the words and understand it better.We start from the Basic-word Categories in the vocabularyteaching and explore how to learn the words well. This papersummarizes several ways of learning Chinese words of foreignstudents and every method has its target. But from themacroscopic view, these two teaching methods are not perfect.This paper tries to summarize the two teaching methods, analyze and explore the kinds of detail teaching methods which comefrom the two teaching methods. So that we can let the teachingmethods achieve mutual learning, combination and innovation.Finally, it can better serve foreign students for leaningChinese words.
