Based on the changes of Guo Jingming's works and the transformation of his status, the present study aims to disclose one of the development trends of literature in the current commercialsociety.According to the different features in the process of his development, this research dividesMr. Guo's development into three periods: the first period in which he is a writer who is dictatedby others, the second period in which he is an independent author, and the last period in which he eventually becomes a producer. Consequently, this study consists of the three parts:First, from the perspective of the reader, the input of merchant capital and the modern media, thisstudy analyzes the reasons why Mr. Guo became success. In fact, it is the combination of the reader, the merchant capital, the media and the author himself makes Mr. Guo so popular.Second, this study discloses how Guo adjusted himself after he became popular in order to realize the metamorphosis from a writer to the dual role as a writer and a merchant. During this period, Mr. Guo actively participated in the commercial operation.Third, we focus on the changes between his early works and later works, which, to some extent, show the influence of the commerce to the literature.It is impossible to anticipate the specific changes of his works in future, as Mr. Guo and hisworks are still in the evolutionary development. However, certainly, Mr. Guo must find the balance between the literature and the commerce, which perhaps is the trend of the literature in the commercial society.
